| Hey i rly want to know how to create a shield and put me in to it. If any 1 could help me out or anything. It would be just great

| Well, I will tell you the way where you can learn how to do it. But I will tell you the hard way.

http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ And here are the toutorials, where you will learn how to do everything with an image, and soon you will learn to do your shield.
I could tell you the easy and fast way, but I really hate lazy people who don't want to learn. So, take your time, read the toutorials, play with it a bit, and in no time, you will know how to do it.
Your reasoning is excellent -- it's only your basic assumptions that are wrong.
